THE EXECUTIVE

The Executive Arm of Government, which is headed by the Executive Governor, is charged with the statutory responsibility of formulation of policies and programmes of government through the state Executive council. Other members of the Executive council include the Deputy Governor, Honourable Commissioners of the various Ministries and the Secretary to the State Government who serve as Secretary to the Council. However, the actual implementation of Government’s policies and programmes are being carried out by the various Ministries, Parastatals and Extra-ministerial Departments. Yobe State has sixteen (16) ministries and forty-eight (48) extra-ministerial departments boards and parastatals established to ensure the provision of socio-economic services to the people of the state. There are seventeen (17) Local Government Areas in Yobe State and each local government is administered by a Council headed by a Chairman. The Council also includes the Vice Chairman and Councilors, while the Secretary of the Local Government serve as the Secretary to the Council.
