THE LEGISLATURE

The legislative Arm of Government is vested with the primary function of making laws to promote and enhance the socio-economic and political development as well as ensuring peace and stability within geo-political configuration of the state. The Clerk of House is the Administrative Head and Chief Adviser to the Honourable Speaker. The Yobe State House of Assembly was inaugurated on 8th June, 1999, following the receipt of the letter of proclamation from the State Governor Alhaji Bukar Abba Ibrahim (FNIQS). There are twenty-four (24) members in the House, out of which the All Nigeria People Party (ANPP) controls the House with twenty two (22) members, while People Democratic Party (PDP) has two (2) members. Presently there are five (5) Special and twenty-four (24) Standing committees in house.
